Running a newsletter experiment

I always want to share much in my newsletter, The Maker Journey, but it’s hard to cut things out. My emails are turning bloated, and I don’t like it.

Although adding more stuff might seem like a good move because you share value, people’s attention spans have lowered drastically. Plus, newsletter subscribers already receive tons of emails.

You certainly don’t want your subscribers to miss your issues. You want avid readers.

So, instead of going down the media outlet path, I opted for a format revamp.

One issue, one idea, weekly.

The simpler, the better. Isn’t it?

Long-time readers of The Maker Journey know I like to run tests, and this one is no exception.

For the next two months, I’ll slide into my readers’ inbox every Thursday instead of every other week. One email will be about updates, and the following will be a single essay.

Less content but sharper.

Shall I?

I’ll start next week talking about a mistake that cost me a whole day of work.
